Festival Weekend 4

The fourth and final weekend of the Grafenegg Festival will be opened on Thursday, 31 August 2023, by the Concertgebouworkest under Iván Fischer and baritone Michael Nagy with excerpts from the song cycle «Das heiße Herz» by Jörg Widmann.

On 1 September 2023, Tabita Berlung will take the podium of the Tonkunstler Orchestra. She conducts the orchestra in her own compilation of suites from Prokofiev's ballet «Romeo and Juliet» and Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with Sergei Dogadin.
The concert on Saturday, 2 September 2023, is all about Verdi's operas. Riccardo Chailly conducts his orchestra and the Teatro alla Scala choir, bringing a broad cross-section of Verdi's stage world to the Wolkenturm.
On the last day of the Festival, 3 September 2023, Rudolf Buchbinder and Leonidas Kavakos will perform a chamber music matinee with sonatas by Schubert, Brahms and Beethoven.
For the Festival finale in the evening, Jakob Hrůša and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate music from Eastern Europe. The Czech conductor has a special relationship with Janáček's late romantic opera «The Cunning Little Vixen» and has put together his own large suite. Also on the programme is George Enescu's 1st Suite for Orchestra, a rarely heard musical gem. The finale is Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances op. 45.
