General Music Director of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich since 2021, Vladimir Jurowski is one of the Russian conductors of the younger generation who are already at the height of their careers. Since 2017 he has been Chief Conductor of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, with whom he has made a huge impact on musical life in the German capital. The Wolkenturm programme with his Berlin orchestra is also exciting. Kurt Weill's snappy «Little Threepenny Music» opens, followed by Thomas Adès's colourful Piano Concerto, one of the most successful contemporary works of recent years, which also features an irresistible drive - ideal conditions for Kirill Gerstein to live out his penchant for jazz. Rachmaninov's expressive Third Symphony, with its pulsating dance rhythms in the finale, supplies a great emotional finale.
