The concerts that Gustav Mahler conducted with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam at the beginning of the twentieth century must have been mightily impressive. His own works were often on the programme, including his Seventh Symphony in 1909, which the tradition-steeped orchestra now performs at the Wolkenturm more than a century later under the direction of Iván Fischer. In comparison, Jörg Widmann's song cycle «Das heiße Herz», which had its premiere in 2015 and which in Grafenegg is sung by baritone Michael Nagy, can be described as a real novelty. Born in 1973, Jörg Widmann was the eighth Composer in Residence of the Grafenegg Festival in 2014.
