This concert with the Tonkunstler-Orchestra at the Wolkenturm offers many sizzling moments: the magic of Mozart's music is conjured up in the first half, when Andreas Haefliger, acclaimed for his subtlety of expression, takes on the solo part in the Piano Concerto in C minor KV 491. After the interval Mei-Ann Chen raises her baton to conduct the musical re-telling of one of the most famous German ballads, Goethe's «Sorcerer's Apprentice», superbly set to music by Paul Dukas. At the evening's end, the magic of seduction radiates throughout the Wolkenturm when Richard Strauss's passionate tone poem «Don Juan» concludes this colourful programme.
