BRAHMS
Rudolf Buchbinder always looks especially forward to his concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. A long-time close friend of the renowned orchestra, he has been an honorary member since 2017. He is also on the same musical wavelength as Lahav Shani, who took over from Zubin Mehta as Chief Conductor in Tel Aviv; a televised joint concert was a fine testimony to this. In their joint Wolkenturm concert, Brahms is heard twice. In both cases it is the composer's first work in the respective genre - first the Piano Concerto in D minor, followed by the Symphony in C minor.
The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra had to cancel part of its tour for financial reasons, which also affects the concert on 24 August in Grafenegg. However, we are pleased that the concert with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under the baton of Cristian Măcelaru can take place with an unchanged programme and Rudolf Buchbinder as soloist.
