The warm sound of the cello with Kian Soltani.

His meteoric rise had certainly already begun, but the young cellist Kian Soltani's performance of the Dvořák concerto in 2018 with the Vienna Philharmonic under Franz Welser-Möst catapulted him into the international spotlight. Already known to the Grafenegg audience from a Light Night Session in summer 2022, the musician from Bregenz with Persian roots takes the solo part in Schumann's melodious Cello Concerto in the matinée concert of the Festival Strings Lucerne. Pure romance follows the interval when the orchestra takes us to Scotland, where Mendelssohn drew major inspiration for his Third symphony. Arthur Honegger's «Pastorale d’été», which opens the concert, is a beautiful homage to summer.
